The name Calakmul
conjures up images of one of the last remaining
wildlife spectacles on earth and one of the most
important Archaeological sites in the Western
Hemisphere.
Those lucky enough to visit this wilderness area
come away with memories of vast herds of wild
turkey feeding on the plains. Columns of wild
pigs, deers, head to tail, trudging along their
traditional migration routes, and prides of
Jaguars, sometimes sleeping, sometimes alert and
carefully stalking their prey. The extensive
grasslands and tropical forest provide habitats
for a variety of birds, mammals and reptiles.
We begin our circuit discovering the city of
Chetumal. We will find out about the mysteries
of the Mayan Civilization at the museum of Mayan
culture, continue to the imposing ruins of
Kohunlich. Drive east to the Rio Bec region and
explore the romantic city of Chicanna with its
fine carvings and the delicacy of their
ornaments. Encounter yourself with one of the
most dense forest in the neo torpics at Calakmul.
Splash at the crystal clear waters of the Lagoon
of the seven colors Bacalar. End in Cancun at
the door of your hotel.
